Dog Camp 2002
We recently went to Camp Gone to the Dogs in Vermont. Here are some pictures from that fun filled week.
"Camp Gone to the Dogs" is a week-long event for dogs & their owners to enjoy the outdoors, learn new things and, in general, have a doggone good, tail wagging time!
We took all three dogs & they all did very well. Each of them learned something new and Mercer even won the tail wagging contest! He's a natural when it comes to that event.
Toby never did "Lure Coursing" before. This is an event where a course is laid out and a mechanical system moves a plastic bag "lure" very quickly for the dogs to chase one at a time. The lure can change direction very quickly, in case the dog is catching it. This really adds excitement to the event because the dog has to turn so quickly & concentrate a lot. You can see the determination on Toby's face in thess shots. He really loved it!
Rudy, on the other hand, was afraid of it & ran away. Oh, well. Mercer liked it too, but he didn't run the full course due to his young age.
There were about 150 dogs at the camp, with about 100 owners. The food was fantastic & we met a lot of very, very nice people.
A good time was had by all. We highly recommend Camp Gone to the Dogs!
