More MERCER Photos
We had so many great experiences with our great CCI pup, Mercer.
As noted on the first page, Mercer is now in full time training at the NE Headquarters of CCI and should graduate in May, '04. We'll leave these pictures to remind us of what a great time we had training him.

Mercer at Monticello
Here's our pup, Mercer, posing on the lawn at Thomas Jefferson's beautiful home in Charlottesville, VA. Mercer was the only dog in the tour group last November and he was welcomed warmly by the staff at Monticello. It was a very good learning experience for him and he handled it very well. He's such a good dog.

Mercer finishes FIRST in his obedience class!
As part of our responsibilities as volunteer puppy raisers, we take Mercer to local obedience classes. He did very well in his puppy class last Spring. After that, he entered the world of "big dog" class and more serious training. In November, he finished FIRST in his class, and the competition was pretty close. The most important aspect of the class was that every dog advanced and learned a lot. Here's a picture of Mercer getting his certificate and a BIG treat for his NUMBER ONE finish! |

CCI Play Day Feb. 2, '03
Here's a shot of Mercer at play with some other CCI puppies. We had about 15 CCI pups ranging in age from 4 1/2 months to 17 months. We all met at the home of another puppy raiser & the pups played hard. They got all dirty in the mud and then went for a swim in the lake, even though the water was frigid! These water dogs love to swim & the cold water didn't slow them down a bit. It sure was a lot of fun!

The water may have been freezing, but he never hesitated or shivered. All the pups had a great swim then went back for treats in the form of home made "Frosty Paws," which is soy based ice cream for dogs. They really loved it.

Here are the pups diving into the cold, cold winter lake. As you can see they really were in their element. They take to the water naturally. What fun!

Mercer and Lymon at play.
Lymon was the "host dog" for our puppy play date. His puppy raisers, Cyndi & Rick, have a great yard to play in. Lymon and Mercer are both a year old now. Lymon was born just one week ahead of Mercer and they have been best pals since the day they met. They are both very strong and love to play "tug" games, as you can see from this photo.
UPDATE: Lymon was placed with a client in the Feb.'04 class! We're so happy for Cyndi & Rick, who already are hard at work training their next CCI pup, Tanner.
